CONGRATS, Dexter & Trixie, Bark-A-Bout’s October, 2026 “Bark of the Month!” 
Meet 𝗗𝗲𝘅𝘁𝗲𝗿 & 𝗧𝗿𝗶𝘅𝗶𝗲, our adorable October Bark of the Month duo! 
This lovable pair includes 𝗗𝗲𝘅𝘁𝗲𝗿, 𝗮 𝟰-𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿-𝗼𝗹𝗱 𝗣𝗶𝘁 𝗕𝘂𝗹𝗹 𝗠𝗶𝘅, and his sidekick 𝗧𝗿𝗶𝘅𝗶𝗲, 𝗮 𝟯-𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿-𝗼𝗹𝗱 𝗕𝗲𝗮𝗴𝗹𝗲 𝗠𝗶𝘅 — two big personalities who make a pretty perfect pair!
This lovable pair includes 𝗗𝗲𝘅𝘁𝗲𝗿, 𝗮 𝟰-𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿-𝗼𝗹𝗱 𝗣𝗶𝘁 𝗕𝘂𝗹𝗹 𝗠𝗶𝘅, and his sidekick 𝗧𝗿𝗶𝘅𝗶𝗲, 𝗮 𝟯-𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿-𝗼𝗹𝗱 𝗕𝗲𝗮𝗴𝗹𝗲 𝗠𝗶𝘅 — two big personalities who make a pretty perfect pair! 
Both are proud Macomb County Animal Control Shelter alumni and joined the Bark-A-Bout family as puppies in February, 2024.
At home, Dexter and Trixie love neighborhood walks and have figured out exactly which houses are best for stopping to collect a few extra pets. They’re also very dedicated 𝘆𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘀, especially when leaves are being raked or the lawn is being mowed. Their assistance mostly consists of getting directly in the way.
When it comes to toys, Trixie is currently obsessed with her 𝘀𝗾𝘂𝗲𝗮𝗸𝘆 𝗯𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗮, especially right before bedtime, while Dexter loves anything he can chase or play tug with. Both pups are also big fans of steamed broccoli — but nothing compares to their ultimate favorite treat: 𝗖𝗛𝗘𝗘𝗦𝗘!

This year, Dexter and Trixie went on their 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗼𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗳𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗹𝘆 𝘃𝗮𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 to Crooked Lake Resort up north! Their dog-friendly cabin had a fenced yard and a huge deck overlooking the lake, giving them the perfect spot for people- and boat-watching. They also enjoyed strolling along the nearby Pere Marquette Rail Trail.
Dexter is an outdoor enthusiast, especially when squirrels are involved. He’s also convinced that anything he spots through the front window must immediately be investigated in the backyard. Trixie prefers soaking up the sunshine and rolling around in the grass — although both are equally happy claiming a spot on the couch.
At Bark-A-Bout, 𝗧𝗿𝗶𝘅𝗶𝗲 𝗹𝗼𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗶𝗴 𝗱𝗼𝗴𝘀, while 𝗗𝗲𝘅𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗹𝗼𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝘀𝗼𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘂𝗽 𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 from our caregivers. They also enjoy our special add-on activities and always get spoiled with 𝗛𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗹+ when they stay for boarding!
Trixie has even been working on building her confidence around the pool with our Bark-A-Bout team. During a recent 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗔𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 𝗪𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿 session, Tina took things at Trixie’s pace, giving her time to explore the pool room, take in all the new sights and sounds, and receive lots of reassurance and praise. With some gentle encouragement, she ventured into the water for a few short swims — and after each one, she was back on deck with a wagging tail! We have a feeling having Dexter nearby for a future session might give her an extra boost of confidence.

She’s also suspected of having a little cat DNA thanks to her habit of swatting people with her front paw when she feels she isn’t receiving enough attention.

Dexter, on the other hand, is easygoing and always ready to lean his whole pittie-mix self against someone for pets. At bedtime, 𝗯𝗼𝘁𝗵 𝗽𝘂𝗽𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗰𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗲𝗱 “𝗯𝗲𝗱 𝗵𝗼𝗴𝘀”. Trixie will usually make room when asked, but once Dexter is asleep, good luck convincing him to move!
Please help us give 𝗗𝗲𝘅𝘁𝗲𝗿 & 𝗧𝗿𝗶𝘅𝗶𝗲 a big round of a-paws as our 𝗢𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝗕𝗮𝗿𝗸 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵! They are both so spawcial to us and to our furry pack!
